With the warm weather right around the corner, it is time to get the pool ready for spring. Many families winterize their pool and might not use it for several months. Therefore, it is important to perform all of the necessary tasks to get the pool ready for use. There are a few tips that homeowners should keep in mind.

Schedule The Pool Inspection Early

Pools need to be inspected regularly and it is a smart idea to stick to a schedule. Many families like to have their pools inspected right before they are used during the warmer months.

This is a great idea because pool inspectors tend to get busier once the temperatures heat up.

This could leave families waiting for an extended period of time before they know the pool is safe to use. With this in mind, try to schedule an inspection as early as possible. Some of the important tasks that need to be handled include the pool pump, the pool filtration system, and the foundation or liner of the pool.

Add Water To The Pool Before Checking Chlorine Levels

During the winter months, some of the water is going to evaporate from the pool. While it is important to make sure that the various pool chemicals have been balanced appropriately, the pool is going to need to have water added to it.

This additional water is going to throw off the concentration of the various ions, including the chlorine level. Therefore, try to add water to the pool before adding additional chlorine (if needed). This will save someone the trouble of checking chlorine levels twice.

Clean The Pool Thoroughly

The sight of a dirty pool when the cover is removed can be frustrating; however, if people put in the time to clean the pool from top to bottom as early as possible, this is going to pay off in the long run. Use the skimmer to remove the leaves from the surface.

Enlist the help of a vacuum cleaner to get debris off of the bottom of the pool. Finally, do not neglect the pool surface. Mold and algae can present a serious slip and fall hazard! Once all of these tasks are completed, the pool should be ready to use!
